I’ve gone back to the default comment system in WordPress on this blog.
Yes, I know, it’s a shocker. The guy who has pushed for more people to use Disqus over the last year of using it exclusively is now turning my back on it for the very featureless, very drab, default comment system. But there are reasons.

The biggest reason, though, and the one that sparked this decision, was just the fact that it was getting very annoying to have to leave a comment while using my webkit browser in the Palm Pre (not getting into details here). Several people have come to me thinking that the system was broke and not letting them comment at all, and even though this wasn’t the case, that fact alone didn’t make any fewer people think they actually could post a comment.
So I’ve removed it and said good riddance. The default comment system looks better in my mobile browser anyway.
Will I go back to them if they fix the bugs? Maybe. But I may need some new shinyness as well to act as incentive.
Until then, I’ll need your help making the comments are less boring by filling it with your thoughts and witty sayings.
Tim:
Your page looks really buggy. The post title is cut off and the Disqus image is missing. Also the shadowing of the fonts don’t really look so hot.
That certainly makes things more exciting. What browser are you using?
